The HERITAGE Scholarship Interest & Application Form

The HERITAGE Scholarship (Hometown Engagement via Research and Investigation for Transformative And Generational Excellence) provides $12,500 per year for up to four years to income-eligible students pursuing majors in biology, chemistry, physics, computer and data science, environmental science, mathematics, biochemistry, or neuroscience.

More than a scholarship, HERITAGE is a cohort-based program that combines hands-on research, faculty mentorship, and community engagement. Scholars will strengthen STEM expertise, communication, and leadership skills through classroom learning, collaborative research, summer experiences, and conference presentations—building both academic success and meaningful connections between their studies, their communities, and their future careers.

Interested students must:
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year and be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant.
  • Earn at least a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA (based on a 4.0 scale)
  • Enroll in one of the following majors: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer and Data Science, Environmental Science, Mathematics, Biochemistry, or Neuroscience
  • Demonstrate an interest in research involving their hometown community
